The Owl Performance Management Service (OPMS) enables the administrator of electronic perimeter security solutions to perform remote monitoring and management activities of the solution providing the secure perimeter boundary crossing. The administrator needs to know that the security solution is operating effectively and problems noted are brought to the attention of the system administrator, and others, accurately and without delay.

In circumstances where compliance with security policy has caused the use of one-way technology to provide the boundary crossing, the remote monitoring can be accomplished in a least two distinct ways.

First, the processing on each side of the network boundary can be monitored separately. Alternatively, the system log information and the send side can be transferred across the one-way link and, when coupled with the information from the receive side; can provide a complete picture of the performance and effectiveness of the one-way transfer solution.
