Structured & Unstructured Data
Owl securely transfers information structured as legacy file types, and in office-automation formats (
like Microsoft® Office® applications). We describe structured data as at-rest files and directories of files, and as fixed format & protocol-specific message types requiring transfer between networks of different security levels or different security policies. This includes active-field screen displays in which actual transfer content may be a small percentage of the working console screen.
For
“unstructured” data, data blocks recognized as single at-rest entities are handled by Owl software and
DualDiode® hardware by the same method.
The most common Owl software applications that support such transfer are
Owl ScanFile Management System (OSMS) and
Directory File Transfer System (DFTS). OSMS is enabled with non-bypassable data filters and scanners (deployed before transfer, after transfer, and often on both sides of the transfer), ensuring traffic is sufficiently vetted as qualified for transfer (or quarantined if not).
