Ruggedized Mobile Cross-Domain Solution
Owl 002TV is designed to meet a full range of environmental requirements for mobile and deployed systems -- to be tested to MIL-STD-810F for shock, vibration, temperature, sand and dust. It will also be tested to MIL-STD-461E, for conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility. Owl 002TV may be mounted and deployed in a number of environments. It is designed for in-vehicle use, where operational conditions (including exposure to moisture) dictate robust, resilient design and performance. The product supports USB-based connectivity. USB-connecting devices (in-vehicle processors, environmental sensors, laptops, PDAs, vehicle communication gear, etc.) independently power the Send-only and Receive-only sides of the Owl 002TV one-way transfer. Other types of connectivity (i.e., EIA232 serial, Ethernet) are being evaluated. From low to high, one-way security policy absolutely assures the confidentiality of the high security domain. From high to low, one-way security policy prevents penetration of the high-security domain, assuring that data transfer can only be initiated from the high side. Owl 002TV is fully functional today, with channel capacity of approximately 2Mbps. Power consumption is very low. Data filters and device identification signatures may also be built into the device.

Users have expressed a growing need for a small form-factor, rugged, one-way data transfer product, that will withstand a wide range of tactical operating conditions, including provision to the individual, dismounted,warfighter. Owl has migrated its proprietary DualDiode® technology to such a platform, to deliver a reliable, cost-effective product with adequate bandwidth and speed for tactical, fully portable, deployment.

The Owl 002DS prototype device has been designed with standard USB interfaces — a Send-only USB device and a Receive-only USB device, optically isolated by a mini-fiber cable. Owl USB-DualDiode technology permits the direct connection to sensitive networks of mobile devices, such as laptops and PDAs. Also, Owl 002DS is useful in securely porting field devices to embedded on-board computer in vehicles, or in other dynamic environments. These easy-to-establish connections permit one-way data transfer from the mobile, or embedded device, to a high confidentiality network; or one-way transfer of data from a high-integrity data source network to the mobile, or embedded device.

Owl Mobile Cross Domain Solution (MCDS) addresses the need for full-featured CDS capabilities in a ruggedized, to-MILSPEC, form factor that meets field-deployment rigor for size, power consumption, and functionality.

MCDS combines PC104 design technology with DualDiode® data confidentiality and Owl expertise in building and deploying source-to-destination firewall cross domain deliverables. MCDS secures transfers all types of data (files, streaming audio & video, etc.) one-way between environments of different security levels.
